50 people injured due to technical glitch in Sydney to Auckland LATAM Airlines flight, people had to fly here and there

At least 50 people were injured after a LATAM Airlines plane suffered a “technical problem” during a flight from Sydney, Australia to Auckland, New Zealand on Monday.

Without giving further details, a spokesperson for the South American airline told the NZ Herald that there had been a “technical” glitch with the flight that had affected some passengers and crew.

According to RNZ (Radio NZ), the LATAM Airlines statement said, “Some passengers and cabin crew were affected. They received immediate assistance and were assessed or treated by medical staff at the airport as required.”

The injured people suffered minor injuries and the LATAM Airlines LA800 – a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner – landed at Auckland Airport on Monday afternoon (local time), according to FlightAware. The flight usually stops in Auckland en route to Chile’s capital, Santiago.

A spokesman for Hato Hon St John Ambulance told Reuters news agency that one of the 50 people was in serious condition.

One passenger told RNZ that one had “dropped in the air” which affected several passengers, claiming that “people were blown out of the cabin” and “a number of injuries”.

He said that many of his companions were not wearing seat belts at the time.

Another passenger told RNZ the plane had stopped just 50 minutes before landing in Auckland and people were flying around inside the cabin. He claimed that there was blood on the roof of the plane because people had bumped into it as it took off.
