65000 attend Ahlan Modi event in UAE, bad weather, Indian diaspora BAPS top point
Ahead of the inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Indian expatriate in the UAE from the capital city. PM Modi will address NRIs from the platform of ‘Ahlan Modi’, a program organized to welcome and honor them.
During his two-day visit to UAE, PM Modi will also hold a bilateral meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. PM Modi said his visit will “deepen India’s bilateral relations” with the UAE.

Nearly 35 lakh Indians are waiting to welcome PM Modi in the UAE as rehearsals for community event ‘Ahlan Modi’ continue in full swing despite inclement weather. ‘Ahlan Modi’ will be held at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday evening.
Here are the highlights of PM Modi’s two-day UAE visit:
- PM Modi will meet UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He will also meet Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Defense Minister of the UAE.
- After this he will address the Indian diaspora from the platform ‘Ahlan Modi’ (‘Welcome Modi’ in Arabic). Over 65,000 registrations were recorded for the event.
- On the eve of the event, more than 2,500 artists and volunteers arrived at Zayed Stadium to attend rehearsals and volunteer briefings.
- Apart from Prime Minister Modi addressing the Indian diaspora at ‘Ahlan Modi’, there will also be an exhibition of 700 cultural artists who will showcase the wide variety of Indian arts. More than 150 Indian communities will participate in the event, highlighting India’s regional diversity.
- However, ahead of the event, adverse weather conditions were observed in the region, causing traffic jams and waterlogging across the UAE. Nishi Singh, communications head of ‘Ahlan Modi’, told ANI that the inclement weather has not dampened the enthusiasm of the Indian expatriate in the UAE. “It is clear that the weather is not going to come in the way of a unique community-driven summit to grandly celebrate the India-UAE friendship and extend a warm welcome to the PM,” Singh said.
- Jitendra Vaidya, president of the Indian People Forum and leader of the ‘Ahlan Modi’ initiative, was also excited about the event. He said, “Our gates have not opened yet, but people are already standing at every gate of this stadium. I can say with a guarantee that whenever people remember any public program of PM Modi outside the country, So ‘Ahlan Modi’ will be the same.” is remembered as a historic event.
