A massive fire broke out in the eye hospital located in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi.
On June 5, a massive fire broke out at a private eye hospital in Lajpat Nagar in south-east Delhi.
“No one was injured in the incident,” a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said. Police said the fire was suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in an air conditioner installed on the ground floor of the two-storey building.
Several videos of the fire in the hospital are going viral on social media. In one video, the hospital building is seen engulfed in flames and a thick cloud of smoke is rising into the sky.
Officials said that a call was received at 11.30 am about the fire at I7 Choudhary Eye Centre on Ring Road and 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Later, more fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
He said that as soon as the fire broke out, people inside the hospital came out.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer S.K. Dua said a total of 20 fire tenders were deployed to douse the fire, which was brought under control by 1.10 pm.
He said the flames spread to the cafeteria on the third floor of the adjacent building, but were soon brought under control by firefighters.
Another official said that cooling operation is going on at the spot. He said that all the machines and furniture on both floors of the hospital were burnt to ashes in the fire.
