A UK man mixed his own sperm with his father’s to impregnate his partner who was facing fertility issues.

In Barnsley, England, a man mixed his own sperm with his father’s sperm to impregnate his partner. A report in the Guardian said both the man and his partner, who were not named for legal reasons, suffered fertility problems and were not able to afford IVF treatment.

He agreed to mix his sperm with his father’s sperm, which was injected into the woman.

At a court hearing last month, it was ruled that Barnsley Council did not have the right to force the man to undergo a DNA test to determine the ancestry of his son, now five years old.

The court was also told that the arrangement was “always intended to be kept secret”.

However, after the circumstances of the boy’s conception became known as a result of separate proceedings, Barnsley Council launched a legal bid to determine the man’s parentage.

Rejecting the bid, the judge said he found the council had “no stake in the outcome”.

“He may wish to know who the biological father of the boy is, but he has no stake in the outcome of his application,” the judge said.

The judge concluded that the family may wish to undergo a paternity test to reveal the child at a later date “but that is a matter for them”.

The judge also said that the man had an established father-son relationship with the child, and that it was up to him and the boy’s mother to “manage covert risks to his welfare”.
