American murder suspect sprays pepper spray on police, flees with police vehicle

An inmate escaped from the custody of a Louisiana prison while he was being transported from the hospital back to prison. According to a report by NBC News, the man pepper sprayed his transportation deputy and stole his vehicle.

The suspect, identified as Leon Ruffin, was taken to a local hospital in the afternoon after a possible seizure.

He was discharged the same day and on his way back to jail he escaped from the custody of the authorities.

The report states that the accused “caused some type of disturbance”, after the officer got out of the car and opened the door to check on Ruffin, when he sprayed her with pepper spray.

After some time the accused ran away with the car. He was given a life sentence for second-degree murder.

The police were searching for the accused.
