American singer and actress Mary Milben praised PM Modi and the Indian government and called the implementation of the CAA a “path towards peace”. This is the true work of democracy.

The central government led by Prime Minister Modi announced its implementation on Monday Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) which attracted global attention.

American singer and actress Mary Milben lauded PM Modi and the Indian government on the implementation of the CAA, calling it a “path towards peace and a true act of democracy”.

“As a Christian, a woman of faith and a global supporter of religious freedom, I applaud the Modi-led government’s announcement today.” Implementation of Citizenship (Amendment) Act Now persecuted non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and Parsis, are being granted Indian nationality,” Milben said in an X post.

According to the CAA notification, the Act will “remove legal barriers to resettlement and citizenship of such persons and give a dignified life to the refugees who have suffered for decades.” Citizenship rights will protect their cultural, linguistic and social identity. It will also ensure economic, commercial, free movement and property purchase rights.

Milben further expressed his gratitude to PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the Government of India for their “compassionate leadership and most importantly upholding religious freedom in welcoming the persecuted”.

According to the CAA notification, the Act aims to provide a dignified life to refugees who have been suffering for decades. CAA will not take away the citizenship of any Indian citizen, irrespective of his religion. This law is only for those people who have been facing oppression for years and who have no shelter in the world except India.
