Asaduddin Owaisi won the Hyderabad seat for the fifth time

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi On Tuesday, he won the Hyderabad constituency for the fifth time in a row in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, defeating his nearest rival K Madhavi Latha of the BJP by a margin of over 3.38 lakh votes, PTI reported.

Asaduddin Owaisi got 6,61,981 votes, while BJP’s Madhavi Lata got 3,23,894 votes.

Asaduddin Owaisi has been winning the seat since 2004. According to PTI, he defeated BJP’s J Bhagwant Rao by over 2.82 lakh votes in 2019.

The Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat has traditionally been a stronghold of the AIMIM, which has maintained a strong hold on the constituency, which has a significant Muslim population, since 1984.

At least 15 Muslim Lok Sabha Elections 2024 candidates are leading in various constituencies across the country, including TMC candidate from Berhampur Yusuf Pathan who maintained a comfortable lead against Congress veteran Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, PTI reported.

A total of 78 Muslim candidates were in the fray in this year’s Lok Sabha elections.

During this, Congress Imran Masood, the candidate from Saharanpur, is leading by over 80,000 votes, while Iqra Choudhary, a 29-year-old candidate from Kairana, is also leading by over 60,000 votes.

According to PTI, Ghazipur outgoing MP Afzal Ansari is also leading by over one lakh votes in his seat, while AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is leading by over three lakh votes in Hyderabad, from where he is also the outgoing MP.

In Ladakh, independent candidate Mohammad Hanifa Jan has secured a comfortable lead of 28,673 votes, while another independent candidate Abdul Rashid Sheikh from Baramulla is ahead by nearly 2 lakh votes.

In Uttar Pradesh, Mohibullah is leading by over 80,000 votes from Rampur, and Zia ur Rehman is leading by over 1.3 lakh votes from Sambhal.

According to PTI, in Anantnag-Rajouri, Mian Altaf Ahmed of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (J&KNC) is leading by over 2.5 lakh votes over former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

J&KNC candidate from Srinagar Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi is leading by over 1.8 lakh votes.

According to news agency ANI, another unexpected result has emerged from West Bengal’s Baharampur seat where TMC candidate and first-time contester Yusuf Pathan is leading by 29,781 votes over Congress leader in the outgoing Lok Sabha and six-time MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
