BJP general secretary Dushyant Gautam: Voters in Uttar Pradesh are confused by the opposition
After the declaration of the 18th Lok Sabha election results in Uttar Pradesh, in which the Samajwadi Party won 37 seats while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 33 seats, BJP national general secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam claimed that the voters of the state have been misled by the opposition.
On the other hand, Congress managed to win six seats in the state.
Speaking to ANI, Dushyant Kumar Gautam said, “This is the first time in history that a Prime Minister has won the election for the third time with his allies. This is the result of serving the people…”
Comparing PM Modi’s victory to that of Jawaharlal Nehru, Gautam said, “I think this result will be considered as a result of hard work. Jawaharlal Nehru was there during independent India when there were no major political parties.”
Gautam also said that Narendra Modi will be sworn in as Prime Minister for the third time as a result of the government’s commitment towards the betterment of the poor, Dalits, youth, women and farmers.
Speaking on the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh, Dushyant Kumar Gautam took a dig at the opposition and said, “The voters of UP got misled by them. The BJP never talked about changing the Constitution. If anyone changed the Constitution, it was your grandmother (Indira Gandhi)… You have hurt the Preamble of the Constitution, which is the soul of the Constitution… It is you who have always tried to change the reservation… You have only spread rumours and confusion.”
Stepping up his attack on the Congress, Gautam said, “The BJP has more seats than what you have won as an alliance. You could not even cross the 100-mark…I don’t think so much arrogance is good and you should learn something from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
The results of the 18th Lok Sabha elections were announced today with the BJP-led NDA winning 294 seats and the India Block winning 234 seats in the 543-member Parliament. A party or coalition needs a simple majority of 272 seats to form a government.
According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, a significant drop from its 303 seats in 2019. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth by winning 99 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term, but the BJP will have to depend on the support of other parties in his alliance – JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
After counting of votes cast in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP fell 32 seats short of the majority figure of 272. For the first time since coming to power in 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party did not get a majority on its own.
