PM Modi to inaugurate 2 Coal India projects worth Rs 1,400 crore on Thursday
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Coal India’s two first-mile connectivity projects worth Rs 1,393.69 crore on Thursday, according to an official statement, news agency PTI reported.
First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects are expected to reduce the dependence of state-owned coal producers on road traffic to transport the dry fuel. Owned by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), an arm of Coal India, the projects located in Madhya Pradesh will enhance the supply and quality of coal in an environment-friendly manner, the coal ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said PM Modi will inaugurate two important FMC projects virtually on February 29. The value of these projects is Rs 1,393.69 crore. “The projects to be inaugurated are Jayant OCP CHP-SILO and Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO. Jayant OCP CHP-SILO has a capacity of 15 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and has been developed with an investment of Rs 723.50 crore. .
“Similarly, Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO with a capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) has been constructed with an investment of Rs 670.19 crore,” PTI was quoted as saying.
CBI sent summons to Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday in illegal mining case
Five years after registering the case in the illegal mining case, the CBI on Thursday called Samajwadi Party President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for questioning as a witness.
In a notice issued under Section 160 of the CrPC, the agency asked him to appear before it on February 29 in connection with the case registered in 2019, officials said, PTI reported. This section allows a police officer to call witnesses in the investigation.
The case pertains to the issuance of mining leases in alleged violation of the e-tendering process. Allahabad High Court had ordered investigation. Allegations are that during 2012-16, when Yadav was the chief minister, public servants allowed illegal mining and illegally renewed licenses despite a ban by the National Green Tribunal on mining.
