Calcutta HC takes suo motu cognizance of alleged sexual harassment in Sandeshkhali

The court directed that notice be issued to the state, Inspector General of Police (IG), DIG of Barasat range, Superintendent of Police and District Magistrate of North 24-Parganas district.

The case will be heard on February 20.

Justice Sinha Roy appointed advocate Jayant Narayan Chatterjee as amicus curiae to assist the high court in the case.

Government lawyer Debashish Roy, representing the state, was present before the court.

Protests have been taking place in Sandeshkhali for the last few days on this issue.
