Congress said, decision on new partners will be taken tomorrow

According to the Election Commission website, after the initial round of counting, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is leading over its rivals on 22 seats, while the BJP is leading on five and the Congress on two seats.

TMC candidate and sitting MP Abhishek Banerjee is leading in the Diamond Harbour constituency by a margin of 32,507 votes over his nearest rival Abhijit Das of the BJP.

TMC candidate from Hooghly Rachana Banerjee is leading over her nearest rival and sitting MP Locket Chatterjee after counting of postal ballots. TMC candidate from Bolpur and two-time MP Asit Mal is leading over his nearest rival BJP’s Piya Saha by 6,010 votes.

In Malda South, Congress candidate Isha Khan Chowdhury is leading by 11,733 votes over his nearest rival BJP’s Srirupa Mitra Chowdhury.

In Jadavpur, TMC’s Sayani Ghosh is leading by 8,048 votes over her nearest rival BJP’s Anirban Ganguly. In Malda North, sitting MP and BJP candidate Khagen Murmu is leading by 11,119 votes over his nearest rival TMC’s Prasun Banerjee.

In Cooch Behar, BJP candidate and sitting MP Nisith Pramanik is trailing his Trinamool rival Jagadish Chandra Barma Basunia by 5,529 votes.

According to the Election Commission website, BJP heavyweight candidate and state president Sukanta Majumdar is trailing his nearest rival TMC’s Biplab Mitra by 4,855 votes in Balurghat. In Asansol, BJP candidate SS Ahluwalia is leading by 6,956 votes over his nearest rival Shatrughan Sinha of TMC.

In the Bankura Lok Sabha seat, TMC candidate Arup Chakraborty is leading by 3,765 votes over BJP candidate and sitting MP Subhas Sarkar. In the Kolkata North seat, TMC candidate and party’s Lok Sabha leader Sudip Bandopadhyay is leading by 98 votes over his nearest BJP rival.

In the Bardhaman-Durgapur seat, TMC candidate Kirti Azad is leading by 6,526 votes over his nearest rival Dilip Ghosh of the BJP. In Kolkata South, TMC candidate Mala Roy is leading by 12,491 votes over her nearest rival Saira Shah Halim of the CPI(M).
