Congress won 4 out of 6 seats in the assembly by-election, the number of MLAs reached 38

Anuradha Rana, who is the first woman to contest election from Lahaul and Spiti in 52 years, became the second woman to win from the assembly constituency.

He got 9,414 votes while Markanda got 7,454 votes, while BJP candidate Ravi Thakur came third with 3,049 votes.

BJP’s Sudhir Sharma, a former minister who was dubbed the “kingpin” of the rebels by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, won the assembly by-election from the Dharamshala assembly seat by a margin of 5,526 votes.

He got 28,066 votes while his Congress rival Devinder Singh Jaggi got 22,540 votes. BJP rebel Rakesh Chaudhary, who was contesting as an independent candidate from this seat, got 10,770 votes.

Similarly, Congress rebel and BJP candidate from Barsar Indra Dutt Lakhanpal won by 2,125 votes. He got 33,088 votes, while his Congress rival Subhash Chand got 30,961 votes.

BJP rebel Rakesh Kalia, contesting on a Congress ticket from Gagret, defeated Congress rebel Chetan Sharma by 8,487 votes. Kalia got 35,768 votes, while Chetan Sharma got 27,281 votes.

BJP candidate Davinder Bhutto, one of the six Congress rebels, was defeated by his Congress rival Vivek Sharma by 5,356 votes in Kutlahar. Vivek Sharma got 3,68,53 votes while Bhutto got 3,14,97 votes. A total of four candidates were in the fray from this seat.

By-elections in Himachal Pradesh were held on June 1 along with four Lok Sabha seats.
