Delhi Lieutenant Governor is obstructing implementation of solar energy policy: Atishi

Delhi Power Minister Atishi on Wednesday alleged that Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena is obstructing the AAP government’s solar policy to ensure that it is not notified before the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections is implemented.

Atishi raised the issue in the Delhi Assembly and also addressed a press conference on the issue.

“Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor kept sitting on the file. I personally asked the LG office about the policy file. When the file came back with several objections, it passed from one officer to another. It has only one purpose And that is to stop it, Atishi said, adding, “The policy will be notified before the model code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections is implemented.”

“Today, LG sahib, despite holding a constitutional post, is batting on behalf of the BJP,” he alleged during a press conference.

He urged the Lieutenant Governor not to make efforts to delay the implementation of the policy.

He said, “This is an excellent policy and will reduce pollution. Please do not try to delay it.”

Earlier, the Delhi Assembly had also passed a motion censuring the alleged obstruction of policy by the Lieutenant Governor.

There was no immediate response from the LG office. However, sources in the LG office denied the allegation and accused the Kejriwal government of “habitual lying”.

“He (LG) has raised questions on some provisions of the policy. There is a provision in the policy which may benefit private players and he has sought clarity on it,” a source in the LG office said.
