Was Trump asleep? Let’s know the truth
As the video went viral, the American media tried to bring out the truth.
One of them said that Trump’s eyes were closed because it was a prayer session.
CBS News verification producer Jim La Porta claimed, “I’m looking at claims that former President Trump fell asleep at one point during the RNC. I matched the time stamps. Trump’s eyes are closed because it happened during Pastor James Romke’s prayer.”
But Newsweek said its investigation found the clip was filmed during a speech by Republican Party official Harmeet Dhillon.
Newsweek said the clip took place four minutes after Romke’s prayer session and during a speech by Harmeet Dhillon, a Republican National Committeeman from California.
During Romke’s prayer session, most of the attendees, including Vance, are seen with their eyes closed. While in the viral clip, Vance’s eyes are open while Trump is seen blinking.
Neither Trump nor his team has commented on the video or the claims.
