Farmers’ protest enters fifth day, BKU (Ugrahan) to protest outside BJP leaders’ houses
Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) will stage a sit-in outside the residence of three senior BJP leaders in Punjab on Saturday, February 17, the fifth day of farmers’ protest over their various demands including legal guarantee for MSP.
Apart from staging protests outside the houses of former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, BJP Punjab unit chief Sunil Jakhar and senior leader Kewal Singh Dhillon, the union will also protest at toll plazas in the state in support of farmers. The call to let’s go.
Farmers remained stuck at two border points of Punjab and Haryana on the fifth day of their “Delhi Chalo” march called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha as they put pressure on the Centre. Accept their demands including legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.
Farmers from Punjab began their march to Delhi on Tuesday, but security personnel stopped them at Shambhu and Khanauri points of Punjab’s border with Haryana. Since then the protesters have been stuck at the two border points.
Gurnam Singh Charuni-led Bharatiya Kisan Union (Charuni), based in Haryana, will take out a tractor rally on Saturday in solidarity with the protesting farmers.
Union ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal and Nityanand Rai and farmer leaders will meet on Sunday 17 February for the fourth round of talks. Both the sides had earlier met on 8, 12 and 15 February but those talks remained inconclusive.
