Five people burnt to death after their car caught fire after colliding with a bus. Yamuna Expressway in Mathura on Monday.

The incident took place in the morning near the 117th milestone on the Agra-Noida carriageway of the expressway under Mahavan police station limits, newswire PTI quoted a senior official as saying. The car was going to Delhi.

Police said that none of the passengers on board the bus were injured and all have been sent to their destinations in different vehicles.

“There was a collision between the bus and the Swift car. So far it has come to light that one of the tires of the bus burst, after which it went out of control and overturned on the road. The Swift car coming from behind hit the bus. ” And both the vehicles caught fire,” said Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police Shailesh Pandey.

Pandey said that the people sitting in the bus managed to get out, but the people sitting in the car could not and all five were burnt to death.

“Prima facie all the deceased were male and were moving Shikohabad to DelhiPandey said.

He told that the accident happened when the front tire of the bus coming from Bodhgaya, Bihar to Delhi suddenly got punctured and the vehicle overturned and collided with the car coming from behind.

The official said that the bodies of those burnt alive have been sent for postmortem.

One of the deceased has been identified as Ayushman Yadav (28), a resident of Shikohabad (Firozabad district), police said, adding that efforts are on to identify the other four deceased.

As soon as information about the accident was received, fire brigade and ambulance were sent to the spot.

Police said the fire has been extinguished and the road has been cleared.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man died after allegedly being hit by a motorcycle Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation Police said that a (KSRTC) bus near Yesvantpur metro station here on Monday.

He said Rajendra, who worked in a private company, was going to the GST office when the accident occurred around 10.30 am.

According to the police, the KSRTC bus was going from Tumakuru depot towards Majestic when the victim’s bike collided with the windshield of the bus and he came under the vehicle.

A senior police officer said that the injured was taken to the hospital where he died.

“We have registered a case and arrested the accused driver in connection with the accident,” he said. (with inputs from agencies)
