Beirut:

Iran-backed Hezbollah signaled on Friday it would step up attacks on Israel in response to the deaths of 10 Lebanese civilians killed in Israeli strikes this week, and said Israel would pay the price “with blood.”

Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire along the Lebanese-Israeli border since the Gaza war began in October, their deadliest confrontation in nearly 20 years.

In a televised speech on Friday, Hezbollah leader Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah accused Israel of deliberately targeting civilians in this week’s attacks, saying Israel could have avoided killing civilians.

“The response to the massacre should be to continue resistance work at the front and increase resistance work at the front,” Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised speech.

He said, “Our women and our children who died in these days, the enemy will have to pay the price for their blood with blood.”
