Himachal CM Sukhu denied the news of resignation, said will prove majority in the House
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday denied reports of resigning from his post, saying he has not tendered his resignation and will prove majority in the House.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Sukhu said that no one from his party has asked for his resignation.
Sukhu said, “Neither has anyone asked for my resignation nor have I submitted my resignation to anyone. We will prove majority. We will win, the people of Himachal will win…”
Sukhu further said that he would not be afraid and expressed his determination that the Congress would remain in power.
He said, “I am not one to be afraid and I can say with guarantee that when the budget is presented, Congress is going to win. The budget will be passed today. BJP is spreading rumors of my resignation. Congress is united. ” .” He added.
The Himachal Chief Minister also claimed that some of the six MLAs who cross-voted in the election for the lone Rajya Sabha seat yesterday are in touch with him.
“…BJP is spreading rumors of my resignation. They want to create a rift in the MLA party. They want Congress MLAs to leave the party and join them. Congress is united…some MLAs who voted for BJP Is in touch with us…” Sukhu said.
The Congress government in the state is facing a crisis after six MLAs switched sides and are in touch with the BJP.
In the 68-member state assembly, Congress has 40 MLAs while BJP has 25 MLAs. The remaining three seats are held by independents.
Meanwhile, the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker suspended 15 BJP MLAs for alleged misbehavior and adjourned the House.
The state budget is pending approval in the Assembly and the BJP, with the help of Congress rebels, is ensuring that the budget is not passed and is demanding division of votes.
Congress leader and Himachal Pradesh observer DK Shivakumar arrived in Shimla on Wednesday to talk to members of the party, which is facing the risk of losing support and losing power in the state.
In a post on Twitter, Shivakumar expressed confidence that the rebel Congress MLAs will remain ‘loyal’ to the party and abide by the mandate given to them.
“As per the instructions of the Congress high command, I am reaching Himachal Pradesh. Also, there is absolutely no need to indulge in any kind of rumor, because I am confident that the Congress Party MLAs will remain loyal to the party and stick to the mandate. ” They have been given permission,” said the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister.
He further attacked the BJP, accusing it of ‘deliberately trying to crush democracy’.
Shivakumar said, “However, what should be questioned and a matter of concern is the extent to which the BJP is going to gain power, deliberately attempting to crush democracy and the public mandate in the process. “
In the latest trouble for the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, state minister and former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh resigned from his post on Wednesday.
“I would just like to say that under the current circumstances, it is not right for me to continue to be a part of the government. Therefore, I have decided that I am resigning from the Council of Ministers. I am resigning from the post of minister.” ,” Singh said.
