Kansas City Super Bowl Chiefs victory parade mass shooting
On February 14, shooting occurred during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade near Union Station, resulting in one death and several injuries.
Eight children are also among the injured, while the condition of three remains critical.
Chaotic scenes unfolded as attendees, including families with children, struggled for safety amid gunfire. Law enforcement officers numbering more than 800 from various agencies responded quickly to the incident and took two suspects into custody.
The motive was considered criminal, not terrorism related.
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and Police Chief Stacey Graves expressed their anger and sadness at the violence at the celebration. The White House monitored the situation closely, offering federal support to local law enforcement.
