According to PTI, the ACB said the woman, identified as Shilpa Pawar, was arrested on Wednesday.

The anti-corruption agency said they lodged a complaint with the Raigarh unit of the ACB, which laid a trap and caught the revenue department official taking the bribe.

A case was registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Meanwhile, in another incident, the ACB acted on a court order and registered a case against a retired police officer and two of his subordinates in connection with a bribe of Rs 2.25 lakh, an official said on Wednesday, the news agency reported. told .

ACB Mumbai on Tuesday registered a case against Kalekar, Ghag and Mande under the Prevention of Corruption Act on the directions of the court.

A 32-year-old female lawyer had filed a complaint of domestic violence against her husband and in-laws in June 2021. According to PTI, he said that accordingly, an FIR was registered at Borivali police station.

The officer said that during the investigation, the complainant wrote a letter to the police demanding return of jewelery worth Rs 27 lakh from her in-laws.

Mande, who was the investigating officer, allegedly worked on behalf of Ghag and Kalekar to get the complainant to return her jewellery, ensure a strong case against her husband and in-laws and record her statement under section 164 (5). Had demanded Rs 5 lakh. ) (a) CrPC will be produced before a magistrate to make it foolproof, he said.

Mande called the complainant to the police station and allegedly received Rs 2 lakh from him in November 2021 on behalf of Kalekar and Ghag, the officer said. A month before that, he had allegedly taken Rs 25,000 from her to buy a new mobile phone.

However, the police did not help the complainant in getting her jewelery back as she failed to pay the remaining bribe amount of Rs 3 lakh. They did not record her statement before the magistrate and instead filed a chargesheet which contained errors, he said.

After realizing that she was defrauded, the woman submitted an application against the three policemen before the ACB Mumbai and the Special Sessions Court (ACB), he said.

On January 24, the court issued orders to register a case against the three police officers. The officer said that the woman was called to ACB Mumbai on Tuesday and after registering her complaint, a case has been registered against the three.
