Maharashtra weather update: Nagpur likely to receive rain or thundershowers till June 5
The Indian Meteorological Department on Monday predicted rain or thunderstorms with strong winds in Nagpur, Maharashtra in the next few days. The maximum temperature may reach 41 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may reach 28 degrees Celsius, the official release said.
In an official statement, the Meteorological Department said that till June 5, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds with speed of 40-50 kmph at isolated places in all the districts of Vidarbha.
Similar conditions are expected at isolated places over Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal in Vidarbha on June 6 and 7.
Meanwhile, Amravati recorded a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius today, being the hottest place in Vidarbha.
Maharashtra weather update: IMD says, thunderstorms with light rain in parts of Vidarbha today
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday evening predicted that thunderstorms and light rain are likely at isolated places in Washim and Yavatmal districts of Vidarbha in Maharashtra. The department also said that strong winds with a speed of 30-40 kmph are likely in these areas.
Meanwhile, Brahmapuri recorded the highest temperature in the state today, where the mercury soared to 46.5 degrees Celsius. Other areas in Vidarbha like Nagpur, Akola, Chandrapur and others recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature of 18.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Mahabaleshwar, the IMD said.
The state capital Mumbai recorded a temperature of 35.1 degrees Celsius.
Weather update: IMD says after monsoon hits Kerala, it will take 8-10 days to reach Maharashtra
Sunil Kamble, Director, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai, said that after reaching Kerala, the monsoon will take eight to ten days to reach Maharashtra. According to a report by news agency ANI, Sunil Kamble said that the monsoon is expected to reach Kerala in the next 24 hours.
Kamble told ANI, “If you talk about Mumbai, the temperature of Mumbai is 35-36 degree Celsius. And this is the normal temperature for the summer season. But due to high humidity, like 80 to 90 degree Celsius humidity prevails. That is why even at 35-36 percent Celsius, we are feeling 40 degrees. And if you look at Maharashtra and its surrounding areas, the temperature is between 38 to 40 percent Celsius…”
