Mahua Moitra answers CBI’s questions in ‘cash-for-query’ case

TMC leader and former Lok Sabha member Mahua Moitra has sent her response to the CBI questionnaire on allegations of corruption in raising questions in the House, officials said on Thursday.

He said the CBI is investigating the response after which it will send a report to the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal which had referred the case to the agency.

The agency is conducting a preliminary inquiry into the allegations against Moitra on the reference of the Lokpal.

He said that the CBI is understood to have also spoken to lawyer Jai Dehadrai and businessman Darshan Hiranandani in connection with its inquiry.

Questions sent by PTI to Moitra remained unanswered and the CBI has also maintained silence on the issue.

BJP Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey had accused Moitra of asking questions in the Lok Sabha to target the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani in return for gifts.

He had also accused Moitra of compromising national security for financial gain.

Moitra has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that she was being targeted because she had raised questions on Adani Group deals.

“Neither has the Lokpal uploaded any referral order on the website as per the Lokpal Act nor has the CBI put up anything officially.” Sources are telling the tabloids as per the usual media circus. Hope? Rs 13,000 crore Adani coal scam would be worthy of a CBI PE before my witchcraft.” Moitra had said on X in November.
