Massive explosion in restaurant in China, many vehicles and buildings damaged

A suspected gas explosion occurred at a restaurant in Yanjiao in northern China’s Hebei province on Wednesday, damaging several vehicles and buildings, state media reported. Some people were injured and taken to hospital, and the number of casualties was not known.

According to China Central Television (CCTV), the explosion occurred at 7:55 am (local time) in a restaurant on the ground floor. The restaurant is located in an old residential area.

Videos posted on social media showed vehicles on fire and thick smoke in the area, and a group of people at the scene asking for help.

According to CCTV, a video on social media showed that the glass of nearby buildings was broken due to the explosion.

News agency AFP reported that another video showed a building that had completely collapsed.
