One dead, two injured as power transformer explodes in Patna court
One person was killed and two others injured when a power transformer exploded inside a court complex in Patna on Wednesday, police said.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (City) Ashok Kumar Singh, the blast took place in the civil court in the afternoon, in which a notary died on the spot.
He said, “Two lawyers have been injured and have been taken to Patna Medical College And hospital for treatment. We need the body of deceased notary Devendra Singh for questioning. But the lawyers are protesting in the court and stopping the police from taking away the body. Singh said, we are trying to convince them.

The advocates, who raised slogans against the administration and the electricity department, alleged that there were “visible defects” in the transformer, about which a written complaint was submitted to the concerned authorities, but no action was taken.
“We are trying to assure the lawyers that if they make a written complaint to the police about the incident, an FIR will be registered and action will be taken against those found guilty of omission,” the Deputy SP said.
“Keeping in mind the government’s policy regarding such incidents, the bereaved family will receive ex-gratia,” he said.
