People have expressed their trust in NDA for the third consecutive time: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Tuesday, he described the NDA’s “expected majority” in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 as a historic achievement in the history of India and said the people have reposed their faith in the ruling alliance for a third consecutive term, PTI reported.
In a post on Instagram, he said, “I bow to the ‘Janata Janardhan’ for this affection and assure them that we will continue the good work done in the last decade to fulfil the aspirations of the people.”
Prime Minister Modi also praised the hard work of the alliance workers and said that words cannot do justice to their extraordinary efforts.
Loksabha Election Result 2024 The survey showed that though the BJP has fallen short of a majority in the Lok Sabha, its alliance has won or is leading in nearly 290 seats, well above the majority figure of 272.
Since Jawaharlal Nehru, no Prime Minister has returned to power for a third consecutive time.
Amid possibilities of BJP forming its first government in Odisha, Modi also thanked the voters of the state.
“This is a great victory of good governance and a celebration of Odisha’s unique culture. The BJP will leave no stone unturned to fulfil the dreams of the people and take Odisha to new heights of progress,” he said, news agency reported on Tuesday.
Reacting to the TDP-led NDA heading towards a massive majority in Andhra Pradesh, he congratulated TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu and another ally Jana Sena’s Pawan Kalyan.
“We will work for the all-round progress of Andhra Pradesh and ensure that the state prospers in times to come,” he said, according to PTI.
Meanwhile, PM Modi has won the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh while counting of votes for Lok Sabha elections 2024 is underway, PTI reported.
According to the Election Commission of India, PM Modi defeated Congress candidate Ajay Rai by a margin of 1,52,513 votes, news agency reported on Tuesday.
PM Modi got around 6,12,970 votes while Ajay Rai got 4,60,457 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Athar Jamal Lari came third with 33,766 votes.
In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is leading on 31 seats, while its allies Rashtriya Lok Dal and Apna Dal are leading on two and one seat respectively. It is worth noting that this is much less than the BJP’s 2019 numbers, when it registered a landslide victory by winning 62 out of 80 seats.
The India Bloc has put up a strong performance, with the Samajwadi Party and Congress leading on 38 and 7 seats respectively.
After the defeat, Congress candidate Ajay Rai thanked the people of Kashi for their support and said that PM Modi faced difficulty in winning even by a margin of 1,50,000 votes.
