PM Modi lays the foundation stone of railway projects worth Rs 85,000 crore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of railway projects worth Rs 85,000 crore, including the launch of 10 new Vande Bharat trains, news agency PTI reported.
The PM launched the projects from Sabarmati area of Ahmedabad in Gujarat after visiting the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) Operation Control Centre.
He laid the foundation stone of Railway Workshop, Loco Shed, Pit Line/Coaching Depot, Phaltan-Baramati New Line; Electric traction system upgradation work and two new sections of dedicated freight corridor between New Khurja to Sahnewal (401 route km) section of Eastern DFC and New Makarpura to New Gholwad section (244 route km) of Western DFC dedicated to the nation; Western DFC’s Operation Control Center (OCC), Ahmedabad, told PTI.
PM announces 10 new Vande Bharat trains between Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central, Secunderabad-Vishakhapatnam, Mysuru-Dr MGR Central (Chennai), Patna-Lucknow, New Jalpaiguri-Patna, Puri-Vishakhapatnam, Lucknow-Dehradun, Kalaburagi-Sir M Visvesvaraya. Gave the green signal. Terminals Bengaluru, Ranchi-Varanasi and Khajuraho-Delhi (Nizamuddin), PTI reported.
He also flagged off the extension of four Vande Bharat trains.
Ahmedabad-Jamnagar Vande Bharat train is being extended up to Dwarka, Ajmer-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Vande Bharat up to Chandigarh, Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat up to Prayagraj and Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod Vande Bharat up to Mangaluru.
The PM also flagged off two new passenger trains between Asansol and Hatia and Tirupati and Kollam stations, PTI reported.
PM Modi also flagged off goods trains from various locations on the DFC – New Khurja Junction, Sahnewal, New Rewari, New Kishangarh, New Gholwad and New Makarpura, PTI reported.
He dedicated 50 Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Kendras at various railway stations. These centers will provide affordable and quality generic medicines to the people.
The PM also dedicated 51 Gati Shakti multi-modal cargo terminals to the nation, which will promote seamless movement of goods between different modes of transport.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday unveiled more than 270 railway projects in Odisha, officials said.
He said these include new railway lines, signaling system, good sheds and a new Vande Bharat Express that will operate between Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar.
The Prime Minister unveiled these along with other railway projects across the country virtually from Ahmedabad, PTI reported.
The new Vande Bharat Express train will run six days a week except Saturday.
This will be the third Vande Bharat Express train of the state. The first two operate on the Puri-Howrah and Puri-Rourkela routes.
