Pune car accident: Report confirms mother’s blood sample was used as replacement

On Wednesday, police told the court that a forensic laboratory report has confirmed that the mother’s blood samples were used in place of the 17-year-old driver involved in the Porsche accident that claimed two lives in Pune, reports PTI.

The sessions court, on the request of the police, extended the police custody of the girl’s parents till June 10.

Last month, two doctors and a staffer of Sasoon General Hospital were arrested for allegedly altering the blood samples of a minor after the May 19 accident to make it look like he was not drunk at the time of the accident.

It is alleged that one of the doctors was in contact with the teenager’s father, the PTI report said.

The teenager’s mother was arrested on June 1 on charges of conspiracy.

According to PTI report, the police on Wednesday produced the minor’s parents, two doctors and the hospital staff in court after their police custody ended.

The court extended the custody of the doctors and hospital staff till June 7.

The police have also filed an application before the Juvenile Justice Board, seeking a 14-day extension in the remand period of the 17-year-old juvenile, who is lodged in an observation home. His remand ends on Wednesday.

Pune car accident: Police arrest mother of minor accused in the case

The mother of a child involved in a car accident in Pune has been detained after it was confirmed that her blood samples were swapped with his. She will be produced in court today, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said.

Investigation has revealed that the teenager who caused the car accident in Pune had substituted his own blood sample with that of his mother while driving under the influence of alcohol. Two IT professionals were killed in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar on May 19 morning when a Porsche driven by a child collided with their two-wheeler, reports PTI.

According to a PTI report, the 17-year-old accused has been kept in an observation home till June 5. His father, real estate agent Vishal Agarwal, and grandfather Surendra Agarwal have been detained for allegedly kidnapping the family driver and forcing him to take responsibility for the Pune car accident. A court has sent the father and grandfather to 14 days of judicial custody.

Dr Ajay Taware, former director of the forensic medicine department at Sasoon General Hospital, medical officer Dr Shrihari Halnor and employee Atul Ghatkamble are accused of tampering with the minor’s blood samples to make it look like he was not drunk at the time of the accident. During the sample collection process, the police found that Vishal Agarwal and Dr Taware had spoken on the phone several times. According to Maharashtra minister Hasan Mushrif, Dr Taware allegedly charged Rs 3 lakh for tampering with the sample.

The police have requested the arrest of Vishal Agarwal in connection with the tampering of blood sample in the Pune car accident case. Meanwhile, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) has given the police permission to question the juvenile involved in the Porsche accident. According to the Juvenile Justice Act, the minor must be examined in the presence of his parents.

Initially, the juvenile justice board granted bail to the juvenile and asked him to write a 300-word essay on road safety. However, due to public outrage, the police again petitioned the juvenile justice board, resulting in the order being modified and the minor being shifted to an observation home till June 5.

The Maharashtra government has formed a committee to evaluate the conduct of JJB members and ensure that the correct procedures were followed in the case. According to Prashant Narnavare, commissioner of women and child development department, the committee headed by the deputy commissioner will submit its report next week.
