Rajasthan: Coaching student rapes 16-year-old NEET aspirant in Kota, 4 arrested

Four coaching students were arrested on Thursday in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl. Police Said.

The matter came to light when the girl’s classmates found that she was suffering from depression and informed the concerned authorities, who sent the girl to a counseling session during which she disclosed the incident, said Kota Women Harassment Cell ASP Uma Sharma. .

Sharma said the incident took place on February 10 and the victim student was preparing for NEET at a coaching center here and a case was registered on Tuesday after the police were informed.

The girl said in her complaint that she came in contact with another NEET aspirant living here through social media.

Sharma said that on the day of the incident, the accused allegedly called the girl to his apartment on some pretext and raped her, while three other students helped in committing the crime.

Based on the complaint of the teenager, the police registered a case under sections of gang rape on Tuesday. Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and four accused were detained, the ASP said.

He said that all the accused were preparing for the entrance examination in this coaching hub and after interrogation they were arrested on Thursday.
The officer said one of the accused is a resident of West Bengal, while the others are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, aged between 18 years and 19 years.

He said that further investigation of the case has been handed over to the Circle Officer (Kota Central).
