The officials of the enforcement agencies were briefed about all important aspects of expenditure management and asked to enhance monitoring by setting up control rooms at the district level for round the clock checking and effective monitoring. Specifically targeting potential threats, the election official tasked the BSF and other intelligence agencies to combat narcotics smuggling along the international border and prevent the spread of fake currency, the PTI report said. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a voter awareness programme. ECI has also signed an MoU with the Indian Banking Association (IBA) and the Department of Posts to enhance voter education and outreach ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“Banks and post offices will now run voter awareness campaigns across the country. The message will reach a wide audience through 1.6 lakh bank branches, over 2 lakh ATMs and 1.55 lakh post offices,” the ECI said on Monday.
