The public wants that BJP should not be ruled, for this we will take steps at the right time: Kharge

The BJP won 240 seats and the Congress emerged as the second-largest party with 99 seats, while the NDA has a majority figure with 293 seats and is holding a parallel meeting to form a government. The opposition alliance has 234 seats.

The BJP fell short of a majority on its own, but depending on the situation, it can form a government with the help of its allies. With the support of Naidu’s TDP and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) (which won 16 and 12 seats in Andhra Pradesh and Bihar respectively) and other alliance partners, the NDA has crossed the half-way mark.

The TDP and JDU have already rejected suggestions of joining the opposition alliance and have categorically stated that they will remain with the NDA. However, sources said the Congress and some other party leaders are already trying to woo them and are in touch.
