“Such a decision by the Election Commission of India (ECI) just days before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections is an attack on parliamentary democracy. We condemn it,” the former Union minister said, according to a PTI report.

Separately, the opposition NCP (SP) said the CAA decision was taken to divert people’s attention from the controversy over electoral bonds.

Sharad Pawar-led NCP national spokesperson Clyde Crasto claimed, “CAA notification is a ploy by the @BJP4India-led government to divert attention from the electoral bond issue.”
