Traffic expected to slow down on Noida-Delhi routes due to farmers’ protest
Police on Wednesday cautioned commuters about the possibility of traffic slowing down on the Noida-Delhi routes on Thursday in view of the proposed farmers’ protest in the national capital.
Gautam Buddh Nagar police also said that diversions may be implemented on routes in Noida near Delhi borders, where vehicles will be “thoroughly” checked before being allowed to proceed towards the national capital.
Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of farmer groups, has announced a ‘Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat’ at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, where a resolution will be passed to “intensify the fight” against the policies of the central government. Groups of farmers from Western Uttar Pradesh are also likely to participate in the program.
According to officials, Delhi Police has also given permission for the farmers’ gathering with the condition that neither there will be more than 5,000 participants in the gathering nor tractor trolleys will be allowed near the venue.
