UK faces embarrassment as second British warship – HMS Prince of Wales – ‘fails’ to join NATO WarGames report

HMS Prince of Wales, one of two aircraft carriers in the British Navy, has reportedly failed to depart for this year’s biggest NATO exercise. The Times reported that there was a minor fuel leak on the carrier on Saturday. However, reports have not linked this to the delay in its departure. HMS Prince of Wales was to replace HMS Queen Elizabeth to lead the Nordic Response 2024 exercise, which was part of NATO’s wider Steadfast Defender 2024 exercise in March. Earlier this month, HMS Queen Elizabeth’s participation in the WarGames was canceled at the last minute after a problem was discovered with the starboard propeller shaft coupling.
