US-bound ship hits BPCL crude oil import facility at Gujarat’s Sikka port: Report

A US-bound ship from Gujarat’s Sikka port accidentally collided with Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL)’s crude oil import facility late Sunday night, two sources told Reuters news agency on Monday. He said that the extent of the damage could not be known.

Sources said the ship was carrying gasoline-blend fuel (alkylate) for Reliance Industries from a refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

“It appears to have affected the peripheral structure of the single-point mooring (SPM),” a source told Reuters. The source said no ships were currently scheduled to discharge at their SPM.

BPCL has a single-point mooring at Sikka for importing crude oil for its Bina oil refinery in Madhya Pradesh.

Both BPCL and Reliance Industries did not comment till the time of writing this story. The sources did not want to be identified as they were not authorized to speak publicly on the issue.
