Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh resigned along with his entire government amid the fierce war in Gaza. Shtayyeh cited the “unprecedented escalation” and “carnage” in Gaza as reasons for his exit. The resignation comes amid growing US pressure on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to reform the Palestinian Authority, which partly rules the West Bank, as part of the post-war Gaza plan. Negotiations are ongoing between Fatah, which controls the Palestinian Authority, and Hamas for a unity government for the West Bank and Gaza. International news
