West, Ukraine accuse Alexei Navalny’s jail of “murder”, Russia condemns “pre-prepared accusations”

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has died in prison, joining a long list of mysterious deaths linked to critics of President Putin. The prison service of the Yamalo-Nenets region said Navalny “felt unwell” after the walk, and “almost immediately lost consciousness”. Navalny, 47, one of Putin’s most prominent and frequent critics, was being held in a prison about 40 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Navalny’s wife, Yulia Navalnaya, said that Putin and his regime should be punished for “atrocities” against her husband. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Russian critic was “obviously” killed by Putin. US Vice President Kamala Harris said Navalny’s death was “a sign of Putin’s brutality”. Russia’s Foreign Ministry accused the US of making “sweeping accusations” over Navalny’s death. Navalny was a prominent critic against Russia’s “senseless” war in Ukraine, attributing it to the “bloodthirsty passion” of the Kremlin elite. Watch this video to find out more.
