America: Kansas man who murdered wife in 2019 bought sex doll with her life insurance money

A man from Kansas, US, who murdered his wife in 2019, used her life insurance payout and bought a life-size sex doll worth about $2,000 (about Rs 1.66 lakh). The man purchased the sex doll two days after receiving the insurance payment.

The man, Colby Trickle, called 911 and told the operator that his 26-year-old wife, Kristen Trickle, had shot herself at their home in Hays, Kansas, CBS News reports.

A responding officer, Sergeant Brandon Hauptman, soon arrived on the scene. He talked to Colby Trickle but later suspected his involvement in his wife’s death.

But three days after Kristen Tickle’s death, a coroner, Dr. Lyle Nordhock, ruled that the woman died by suicide.

However, after a few years, it was revealed that Colby Trickle, who was in the Army Reserves, cashed out a total of more than $120,000 (about Rs 1 crore) on two life insurance policies for his wife, reports CBS News. stated in.

According to investigators, Colby Trickle spent nearly $2,000 on a sex doll after receiving an insurance payout two days earlier.

Speaking to CBS News’s 48 Hours, Detective Joshua “JB” Burkholder said, “There’s a grieving process that I think everyone should go through, when a loved one dies, they get this type of doll. And within a few months he should order this type of doll.” His wife’s death was worrying.”

When Kristen Trickle’s aunt Daylin Rice found out about the doll, she was “shocked”. She said, “I was just amazed that he would use Kristen’s life insurance money to pay for a sex doll. It was as if he had bought a replacement doll with his own money.”

Aaron Cunningham, assistant Ellis County attorney, said Colby Trickle spent all $120,000 of the insurance payout in about eight months.

In addition to purchasing sex dolls, Colby Trickle also spent thousands of dollars on video games, paying off debt and purchasing musical equipment to pursue her dream of becoming an artist, CBS News reports.

On July 14, 2021, nearly two years (21 months) after Kristen Trickle’s death, Colby Trickle was charged with first-degree murder and obstructing an investigation by law enforcement agencies.

During her trial last September, prosecutors informed jurors about Colby Trickle’s sex doll purchases. That’s when his mother, Tina Kreutzer, revealed that her son had bought the doll for warmth and comfort, not sex.

He also said that Colby Trickle was struggling with nightmares and having trouble sleeping after his wife’s death and so, he purchased the doll.

But Kristen Trickle’s uncle Brent Rice responded to her statements and said, “(I’m) disappointed. Just disappointed. We have electric blankets for this.” Subsequently, the jury found Colby Trickle guilty.

Last November, Colby Trickle was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole for 50 years, CBS News reported.
