India sent sacred Saryu water to Sri Lanka

New Delhi: India has started the process of sending holy water from the Saryu River to Sri Lanka for the consecration ceremony of the Sita Amma temple dedicated to Goddess Sita. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 19, marking an important milestone in the history of the temple.

The decision to send the holy water was taken after Sri Lankan representatives requested the Uttar Pradesh government to seek water from the sacred Saryu river for religious ceremonies and the consecration of the idol of Goddess Sita in the temple, news agency ANI reported.

Acting on the instructions of the Uttar Pradesh Government, the Tourism Department has been entrusted with the responsibility of transporting the holy water to Sri Lanka for the auspicious occasion. Ram Mandir Trust appreciated India’s move to send Saryu river water to Sri Lanka, enhancing bilateral ties and cultural ties.

Santosh Kumar Sharma, CEO of Ayodhya Teerth Vikas Parishad, said, “Sita Amma temple is being constructed in Sri Lanka. The representative of the temple has asked for water of Saryu river from the UP government. We will provide the holy water.” The Kalash ritual will take place on 19th May.

The upcoming ceremony at the Sita Amma Temple holds significant meaning as it aims to strengthen the spiritual and cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka, symbolizing the enduring bond between the two countries.

Mahant Shashikant Das lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that “Sita Amma temple in Sri Lanka will be a matter of pride for all ‘Sanatanis’. It is a matter of pride for all Sanatanis. Goddess Sita faced many difficulties. Have done.” Difficulties in Lanka and today a grand temple is being constructed in the same Lanka.”
