Outrage over photo of Indian-American politician with Khalistan flag on Sikh Day

Jennifer Rajkumar, the first Punjabi-American elected to New York state office, expressed pride at attending the Sikh Day Parade as the guest of honor. He praised the Sikh community’s commitment to the values ​​of equality, unity and compassion, while recognizing their important role in the diverse culture of New York City. However, a photo shared by Jennifer Rajkumar showing Khalistani flags in the background has sparked controversy.

However, Jennifer’s post sparked controversy online as some users pointed out the presence of a Khalistani flag in the background of the photo she shared.

One user on X said, “Khalistani flags can be seen in the background. By associating yourself with supporters of the terrorists who blew up Air India Flight 182 and killed 329 people, you are supporting this ideology.”

The user was referring to the Air India Kanishka bomb blast on June 23, 1985. A bomb explodes on Air India Flight 182, which was en route from Toronto to London, England, killing all 329 people on board. Most of those killed were Canadians and the terrorist attack by Khalistani separatists is the worst terrorist attack in Canadian history.

This incident came to light in America then Pro-Khalistan slogans were also raised at an event in Toronto. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the crowd.

In his speech, Trudeau assured the Sikh community that the Canadian government will protect their rights and freedoms at all costs.
