PM roaming from street to street in South to compensate for the loss: Congress

Lamba rejected suggestions that there was a “Modi wave” in these elections, and claimed that the ruling party’s seats would fall to “below 200”.

He said the BJP had dreamed of a Congress-free India, but in the recent elections the Congress defeated the BJP’s “double engine” government in Karnataka.

He said, “In Telangana, Congress formed the government there with majority, shattering the dream of BJP.”

The Congress leader said that the India Bloc of 36 parties is united from east to west and is fighting together.

“The Prime Minister’s speeches are devoid of issues like inflation, the plight of farmers and Dalits and the concerns of women.

He said, “The Prime Minister has been in power for 10 years. If he has the courage, he should have held a press conference and answered the questions of the media, the fourth pillar of democracy.”

Lamba said Jammu and Kashmir wants freedom from the “dictatorial government” and his party will ensure it.

“You (the government) have snatched away the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir, imposed President’s rule and want to rule Jammu and Kashmir from Delhi,” he alleged.

“Assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir and its statehood will be restored under the Indian coalition government,” he said.

The Center on August 5, 2019, abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Voting will be held in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Jammu on April 26.
