Rayalaseema region of Andhra, parts of Odisha, West Bengal in grip of heat wave: IMD

Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh and parts of Odisha were in the grip of scorching heat on Sunday, April 28, with Nandyal recording a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius, 4.6 degrees above the season’s normal.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the mercury reached 45.3 degrees Celsius in Mangapet in Telangana and 45.2 degrees Celsius in Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, while many parts of West Bengal and Bihar were also in the grip of heat wave.

IMD said heat wave conditions have persisted in Odisha since April 15 and in Gangetic West Bengal since April 17.

In Odisha, Angul was the hottest city with a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius, 4.1 degrees above normal, followed by Baripada at 44 degrees, 6.5 degrees above normal.
