US envoy lauds Indian-origin professionals: ‘Can’t become CEO in America if…’

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti praised Indian IT and other professionals looking to land dream jobs in top US companies.

He said that today the situation is such that one out of 10 CEOs of Fortune 500 companies is an Indian immigrant who studied in America.

“The old joke was that if you are Indian you cannot become a CEO in America, now the joke is that if you are not Indian you cannot become a CEO in America, whether it is Google, Microsoft or Starbucks, people Have come and made a big difference,” he joked.

Certainly, the situation that Eric Garcetti talked about forms the basis for a large number of candidates in various fields and students pursuing all types of higher studies in American universities.

In 2023 alone, a record 1.4 million US visas were granted to Indian nationals.

Just a day earlier, when Eric Garcetti was asked whether he expected the number of visa applications to increase further in 2024, he said that the number is ‘increasing every year.’

“American universities are extraordinary places to come, wonderful communities, great research, wonderful faculty. I think it will continue to be a driver for a young population, a growing population, and the largest population in the world. It’s also one of the United States “Friends. These things together. I don’t think the number of students will decline in our lifetime.” news agency PTI,

Garcetti also shared that President Joe Biden directed him to reduce the waiting time for US visas in India.

The envoy said, this is the first time that a US President has given such instructions to the ambassador of any country. The waiting time in India for US visa is 250 days.
