Water crisis is the main issue of Latur, elected representatives should work on it: Gadkari

Water scarcity is a big problem in Latur, Maharashtra and the elected representatives should make all efforts to find a solution to it. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Said on Friday, PTI reported.

According to PTI, Nitin Gadkari was speaking at an event in Ahmedpur, where he visited Dharashiv and Latur districts to inaugurate and launch nine projects.

These include six highway projects in Latur costing Rs 3,946 crore and three highway projects in Dharashiv costing Rs 122 crore.

“Water shortage is a major problem of Latur. The elected representatives should take up the issues related to it on priority. While coming here, I saw a river which had completely dried up. If embankments or small bunds were made from empty fertilizer bags, It would have been better if we had gone.” Have supplied water to nearby wells throughout the day,” he said, according to PTI.

Latur is known for soybean cultivation and good roads will help farmers transport the produce to the market easily, he said.

The projects inaugurated include four-laning of Chakur-Ausa and Chakur-Loha sections.

He said, the length of the national highway in Latur was 124 kilometers till 2014, whereas now it is 510 kilometers.

He said 13 works costing Rs 7,520 crore have been completed in the district, while four works covering a length of 90 kilometers are in progress.

Meanwhile, last week Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 28 National Highway (NH) Projects worth Rs 6,600 crore in Odisha. Although his visit to Odisha got canceled at the last minute, Gadkari launched these projects virtually. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was also present in this program.

The projects inaugurated were a 79 km four-lane road between Baharagora and Singhara on NH-49, worth Rs 1,203 crore, and a 78 km six-lane road from Chandikhol to Bhadrak on NH-16, worth Rs 2,035 crore. Was crore rupees. Additionally, the Minister laid the foundation stone for 26 other road infrastructure projects in the state.

During the programme, Gadkari highlighted the significant progress in National Highway development in Odisha since 2014. The total length of national highways in the state has increased from 4,639 km to 5,753 km during this period. He said the ministry has allocated about Rs 1.50 lakh crore for highway development in Odisha.
