According to the Nikah Khwan (Qazi), the girl voluntarily consented to the marriage, despite lacking a National Identity Card (NIC) or B-Form. He said Asma claimed to be 19 years old and said she was getting married of her own free will, ARY News reported. Nikah Khwan added, “I suggested the girl return home. She accused her mother of trying to marry her off to an older man.” He clarified that he had no contact with the girl or her husband after the Nikah ceremony.

The marriage took place at Khwan’s residence, with the girl confirming that she was 19 years old. It is noteworthy that the girl’s ID card number was not filled in the Nikah Nama. Meanwhile, authorities have started investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged ‘forced’ marriage after a case of kidnapping was registered at the Sachal police station in Karachi.

The case took a surprising turn after news of Asma’s alleged ‘forced marriage’ to Rahim Yar Khan surfaced. According to Karachi Police officials, Asma has declared herself to be 19 years old in the marriage certificate issued to Rahim Yar Khan. However, Asma’s mother argues that her daughter’s actual age is between 14 and 15 years.

As per ARY News report, the mother revealed that the man allegedly responsible for wooing her daughter for marriage has barred any direct communication between them, neither in person nor over the phone.
