4 including teenager stabbed to death in America, 22 year old suspect arrested

Four people, including a teenage girl, have been killed and at least five injured after a man went on a stabbing spree at multiple locations in the US state of Illinois, police have said.

Rockford city police said in a statement that the stabbing happened Wednesday afternoon, adding that a 22-year-old suspect was in custody.

The statement did not say anything about a possible motive.

Rockford is located about 90 miles northwest of Chicago.

According to the police, the dead include a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman and two men aged 49 and 22.

The police statement said that five people were injured, but American media later quoted the police as saying that seven people were injured.
