No evidence of weapon recovery in Sandeshkhali, CBI can bring the recovered items: Mamta

The CBI on Friday seized arms and ammunition, including a police service revolver and foreign-made firearms, during searches of two premises of an aide of now suspended TMC leader Shahjahan Shaikh in Sandeshkhali, officials said.

The searches were conducted in connection with the mob attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in January, which was allegedly instigated by Shaikh, who was arrested by the West Bengal Police on February 29 in the case.

Teams from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), bomb disposal squad, National Security Guard (NSG), central paramilitary forces and West Bengal Police were part of the search along the border at Sandeshkhali – a river delta. Sunderbans in North 24 Parganas district.

Banerjee also said, “Today, I heard that an incident had taken place near Sandeshkhali. A BJP leader had stored bombs in his house. They think they can steal (school) jobs by canceling them and holding elections with bombs. We can win. We want ‘food, clothes’, houses and jobs for the people, not his loud speeches.
