Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez, 60, was crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires

New Delhi:

Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez, 60, of Argentina broke the stereotype and etched her name in the history books by winning the coveted title of Miss Universe for Buenos Aires Province. Her win, announced on Wednesday, not only celebrates her remarkable journey, but also underscores the Miss Universe pageant’s dedication to embracing diversity and inclusivity.

Rodriguez, who hails from La Plata, the capital of Argentina’s Buenos Aires province, isn’t just a beauty queen; She is an experienced lawyer and journalist, demonstrating the multifaceted nature of contemporary beauty. Her victory stands as a testament to her resilience, breaking barriers, and redefining traditional standards of beauty and age.

She has become the first woman of her age to receive such a prestigious beauty award. Her beauty, grace and infectious smile captivated both judges and audiences alike, resonating with people around the world.

Videos shared on social media reveal her determination as she prepares to represent Buenos Aires in the upcoming national selection of Miss Universe Argentina to be held in May 2024. If she wins, Rodriguez will fly the Argentine flag on the global stage at Miss Universe World. The competition is scheduled to be held in Mexico on September 28, 2024.

She told the media after her win, “I am thrilled to represent this new paradigm in beauty pageants as we are inaugurating a new phase in which women are not just physical beauty but another set of values.”

The Miss Universe organization had announced last year that there would no longer be an age limit for contestants in the pageant. From this year, any woman over the age of 18 is eligible to compete. Previously, only women aged 18–28 could participate in the competition.

Another beauty pageant contestant making waves is 47-year-old Heidi Cruz, who will represent the Dominican Republic at Miss Universe 2024.
