Four people convicted in the murder of an Indian-origin delivery driver in England

Four Indian-origin men in their 20s were found guilty on Thursday of murdering a 23-year-old Indian-origin delivery driver following an attack in Shrewsbury, western England.

When local West Mercia police responded to reports of an assault in the Berwick Avenue area of the city in August last year and arrested four men on suspicion of murder, Orman Singh was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arshdeep Singh, 24, Jagdeep Singh, 22, Shivdeep Singh, 26, and Manjot Singh, 24, who were armed with weapons including axes, hockey sticks and shovels, were charged with Singh’s murder.

Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Mark Bellamy, of West Mercia Police, said: “The attack on Auman Singh was planned and organized by a group of people who armed themselves and used this level of violence, Which only shows that their intention was to kill him.” , who led the investigation.

“They used inside information to select a location where they knew he would be and waited before carrying out the brutal attack in broad daylight,” he said.

All four men denied murder but this week a jury found them guilty at Stafford Crown Court after a six-week trial. A fifth Indian-origin man, 23-year-old Sukhmandeep Singh, considered an “inside man” who had sent information about Orman’s delivery on the day of his murder, was found guilty of murder.

The court heard that neither man had any links to Shrewsbury or the counties covered by West Mercia Police and that the murder of Auraman Singh last year had a significant impact on the local community.

DCI Bellamy said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support of local residents and those who provided vital information to assist our investigation and gave evidence in court.

“Today’s decision should send a strong message to those who think they may be coming to our towns and cities to commit violent crimes that we will not stop in our efforts to find them and bring them before the courts.”

The force described it as a complex investigation, which involved police forces from across the country. Aurmaan Singh’s family released a statement saying they have no words to express how much this tragedy has affected them.

“Today a mother will grow up without her son. A sister will grow up without her brother. We don’t want what happened to us to happen to any other family. It is an unbearable loss for us that changed our lives. Is.” Read the family’s statement.

It added, “We may be living our lives for this but our happiness and will to live is not. We would like to thank the police for diligently conducting their investigation and supporting us through this difficult time.”

Throughout the trial, no evidence emerged that could explain the motive behind the brutal attack on Aurmaan Singh.
