Israel Aerospace Industries opens Indian subsidiary New Delhi partnership DRDO Advanced Defense Systems

Israel’s leading aerospace and aviation manufacturer Israel Aerospace Industries has launched its Indian subsidiary in New Delhi as part of its partnership with the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The subsidiary called Aerospace Services India (ASO) will develop and support advanced systems for the Indian Armed Forces.

Its establishment is in line with the ‘Self-reliant India: Make in India’ vision of the Government of India.

What is the purpose of ASI?

ASI aims to use its new facilities to reduce the turnaround time for repair and service operations and reduce the cost of these processes by operating locally.

It will offer tailored solutions to the Indian Armed Forces combining system maintenance expertise and advanced technology to ensure that India’s defense assets are optimally operational and combat ready.

ASI is the sole authorized technical representative of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the entire Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) system. An advanced and innovative air and missile defense system, MRSAM provides protection against various air platforms, and is used by the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.

IAI and DRDO have jointly developed MRSAM for the Indian Armed Forces.

In a statement issued by IAI, Boaz Levy, Chairman and CEO of the Corporation, said, IAI proudly presents ASI as the company’s first major milestone towards India’s Self-reliant India vision, and when India and Israel If both promote development and technology, they will create history. ASI CEO Danny Lauber said that over the past 30 years, IAI has worked closely with its Indian partners and collaborated on the latest technologies, and the new ASI office will allow the corporation to further that commitment.

ASI employs about 50 people, 97 percent of whom are Indian citizens. The headquarters is in Delhi, and other branches are located at strategic locations in the Indian subcontinent.
