Israel “unhappy” with China’s “not as strong as expected” response to Iran attack.

Israel is “unhappy” with China’s “not as strong as expected” response to Iran’s missile and drone attacks. An Israeli diplomat in China said Tel Aviv is “expecting a strong condemnation and clear acknowledgment of Israel’s right to defend itself.” Following the attack on Israel, China’s Foreign Ministry expressed “deep concern” about the risk of conflict escalation. Beijing also called for the immediate implementation of the UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. The Chinese Foreign Ministry statement also urged unnamed “influential countries” to play a constructive role. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi did not condemn Iran’s retaliation and noted Tehran’s statement that the attack was an “act of self-defense.” Beijing also appreciated Tehran’s emphasis on “not targeting regional and neighboring countries,” Wang said.
